Dan's Birthday

Dan, my husband turned 27 today. Luckily, Dan had off from work today, being Martin Luther King Day and all. Besides just celebrating Dan's birthday, we also celebrated the fact that this was the first birthday that Dan and I got to spend together as a family with our beautiful, baby boy Erik.

The truth is we didn't do anything extravagant. We went to Walmart to get a couple things for Erik. Everyday things like diapers, formula, baby juice...you get the idea. Afterward we went over to Foot Locker to fit Erik for some sneakers. Erik's 9 months old and has never worn shoes. He's just now taking steps by holding on to stuff-bookcases, sofa's etc. Dan measured Erik's feet with a shoe measuring contraption- my son'a a size 5. Is that like the standard size for an almost 10 month old?

I was so excited because I really wanted to get him a pair of Converse sneaker but, it turns out that Erik's arch is to big and wide for the sneakers. That sort of bummed me out. Guess it's a sign that I shouldn't make erik wear shoes yet.

Then we went to eat to a Chinese buffet style restaurant. ( On Saturday we had a wonderful sushi dinner as a pre-curser to his birthday. ) The food was decent for the price- 12.99 p/p all you can eat- or so I thought. There was shrimp, octopus and shrimp salad, different types of red meat and chicken, rice, noodles and some other native like cuisine.

Later, we went grocery shopping and needless to say that my insides were signaling me that the some what decent Chinese buffet food did not at all agree with my stomach. My first instinct was to run to the bathroom. As quickly as I ran into the bathroom I ran out. Believe me, if you had seen the deplorable and disgusting overall conditions of the stalls you would've done the same thing.
Needless to say I held it in and as soon as I got home I hurdled to the b/r.

Hope you're not disgusted.

Like I mentioned earlier, we didn't go anywhere extravagant but we did get to spend quality time together. Something that we don't get to do much of b/c my husband works like a crazy man. Having being able to spend this extra day together was very special to me and Dan and Erik.

Sorry if I bored anyone with my writing :-( I love to write, but I haven't done it in so long that I feel as though my words aren't coming out as they should.
